Reading for Wednesday, January 13th
“The road to life is a disciplined life; ignore correction and you’re lost for good.” Proverbs 10:17
I was reading in Proverbs this morning and came across Proverbs 10:15-21, a section entitled “The Road to Life Is a Disciplined Life.” In particular, verse 17 (listed above) was my favorite verse in that section of text. It’s got simple advice, but very true and quite applicable. I have a hard time desiring correction and a hard time responding properly to correction. But I want to live “life” to the full and to do so, my prayer is that God will give me a heart that is ready to receive correction.

The times I was disciplined as a child are times I still remember to this day—-I didn’t like being wrong and I still don’t. I just wanted to hide and not talk to anyone. When I look back now I realize how important it was for someone to point out the wrong I had done. I am a better person because of it.
I looked back a few verses in Proverbs 10 and found a few more verses that spoke to me as well as the one Pastor Tim pointed out.
Vs. 8 The wise are glad to be instructed……
Vs. 9 People with integrity walk safely…….
Vs. 11 The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain……
If the words of Godly people can give new life to a situation, then I better be ready to accept what they have to say. Why would I want to turn away from a life-giving fountain! Only with God’s help can I humbly accept constructive correction.
